Okay, so how did I get into digital marketing?
It wasn’t planned, that’s for sure.
Picture this: University of Texas dorm room. Not a marketing book in sight. Just a terrible website I built for my friend’s band.
Slow. Clunky. Impossible to find on Google.
I became obsessed. Why was it so bad? How could I fix it?
That obsession? It never really went away.
Fast forward 15 years…
That late-night tinkering? It turned into a career.
Early days were spent at an Austin e-commerce startup. We were scrappy. I learned everything about SEO and conversion rates. On a shoestring budget! Had to be smarter, because we couldn’t outspend the big guys.
Then Denver. A fast-paced agency. I managed digital strategies for everyone. Local coffee shops to national software companies.
Learned one big lesson:
Tools change. Human connection? That never does.
My approach? Simple:
- Data tells a story. I’m a certified Google Analytics pro (GAIQ, woo!), but numbers alone? Useless. What’s the real story behind that bounce rate?
- Honesty wins. Digital marketing is noisy. I give clear, actionable advice. Tested and proven by me. No fluff.
- Empathy matters most. Get the user. Their pain points. Their goals. Their “aha!” moments. Then you can build a website that actually works for them.
Now I’m a full-time consultant. Helping businesses navigate the digital world. It’s what I love.
When I’m not nerding out over Core Web Vitals or a killer email campaign? Hiking in the Rockies with my family. And yes, I’m that dad. Tracking our elevation gain with way too much enthusiasm!
Everything I write? It’s from the heart. Real-world experience.
My goal? To share what I’ve learned. The wins. The failures. The lessons.
So you can build something amazing.
Your success? That’s all that matters.
